In response to your requests for seasonal workshops, Slip Pot Bonsai Workshops and The Original Beer and Bonsai Workshop present: Fall Free-Style Ikebana. Come learn about an art form that is more than just a pretty display! 

Workshop includes everything that you need to make your very own  ikebana from totally natural components all provided by Slip Pot Bonsai. You want gourds? We got you. You want sticks and leaves? No problem! This variation on our moss ball (kokedama) project is a celebration of the bringing together of nature, humanity, and meditation...plus, it looks great around the house for Fall and has NO care requirements. Hear that? You can't kill it! 

Participants have use of the instructor's tools during the workshop and receive the most important workshop aid of all: BEER!  One of the many,  well-crafted beers from Broken Goblet Brewing is always included, so you must be 21 to attend this event.

Learn about the art of kokedama, a planting sandwiched in bonsai soil that is wrapped in moss and tied with a rustic twine. Kokedama means, "moss ball"... and that's what it is!  A moss ball! They're awesome and we use succulents to be able to help your care for them more easily.  A variety of plants will be available for workshop attendees to choose and design their own kokedama to take home. 

Participants have use of the instructor's tools during the workshop and receive the most important workshop aid of all: BEER! One of the many,  incredibly well-crafted beers from Conshohocken Brewing Co. is always included, so you must be 21 to attend this event.

 This workshop is using a familiar tree, but this time we're dealing with a specific style. When I talk style at workshops, everyone wants to do this one. "I want to do that!" You say. But not every tree can become what we'll be doing at this event. Every tree and every pot is hand-picked to be suitable for this particular workshop. Workshop participants receive a  ONE YEAR OLD dwarf jade pre-bonsai tree, and a ceramic pot for Kengai (meaning "cascade" where the style of the tree has the trunk end underneath of the base of the tree...it looks like it's growing upside down) or Han-Kengai ("semi-cascade" with apex outstretched.) You'll get everything you need: soil and substrate, wire, and instruction to style and care for their very own dwarf jade bonsai tree. Participants have use of the instructor's tools during the workshop and receive the most important workshop aid of all: BEER!  One of the many, well-crafted beers from  Conshohocken Brewing Company is always included, so you must be 21 to attend this event!

 "Mame" is a size classification in bonsai.  The word  means "bean" in Japanese, and these little beans are just adorable!!!

Workshop participants receive a  ONE YEAR OLD dwarf jade (portulacaria afra) pre-bonsai tree grown in special soil for this particular project, as well as a colorful, "ice crack" ceramic pot! (soil and substrate, wire are included as well as the use of instructor's tools during the workshop) Most importantly, attendees will get instruction to style and care for their very own miniature, dwarf jade bonsai tree in detail over ninety minutes. Participants also receive the most important workshop aid of all: BEER!  One of the many, well-crafted beers from  the ever changing Neshaminy Creek Brewing Company draft list is always included, so you must be 21 to attend this event!
